Ad Sales

Selling advertising is both an art and a science. It involves having contacts at advertising agencies, knowing what clients the agency serves, understanding the needs of those clients, and being able to offer ads based on the well-established systems the ad industry employs. Just because you have ad inventory, does not mean an agency will want it. But if it is presented properly the likelihood of a sale is much higher.

Once a website has a reliable flow of content, a desirable audience, and the technology to deliver and audit advertising, then they are ready to sell their ad inventory. The next step is the preparation of marketing materials for the ad agencies and these include both an online and printed media kit, and often a PowerPoint version to be used during face-to-face meetings. An appropriate list of advertisers and their agencies needs to be developed based on the information provided by RedBoook and other industry sources. Once those lists are developed, the process of contacting each advertiser or agency and tracking down the executive handling the specific client is begun. That is followed by presentations to the ad agencies and clients, and technical questions are answered. Once clients receive presentations from the agencies and their recommendations, the agencies return with plans and Requests For Proposals (RFPs.) These RFPs are complex documents requiring comprehensive responses backed with documentation. These are used to determine which sites will receive the campaigns and to build the contracts everyone will agree to.

After a website is chosen to carry a campaign, websites receive Insertion Orders that must be reviewed carefully along with the delivery art, ad tags, and other information that have to be implemented within the ad serving system. This needs to be monitored, and then optimized to give the client the best possible return on their investment. Reports need to go to clients weekly or monthly – depending upon the agreement – and then finally, billing and collections need to be done. CyberAd Media, Inc. can handle every aspect of Advertising Sales and Campaign Management.
